How Your Address Is Found

Your address is determined through a two-step process called reverse geocoding: your device uses GPS satellites to determine your exact latitude and longitude coordinates, and those coordinates are matched against OpenStreetMap Nominatim to find the nearest street address.

In well-mapped urban areas, you will receive an exact building number and street name. In rural regions, the service returns the nearest thoroughfare or administrative locality.

FAQ

OpenStreetMap may lack building-level data in some areas, so the nearest street segment is returned instead. This is common in rural areas and newer developments.
Reverse geocoding snaps your coordinates to the closest mapped address point. With GPS accuracy of ±10–30 m, the algorithm sometimes picks the other side of the street or the next doorway.
Your coordinates are sent directly from your browser to OpenStreetMap's public geocoding service to resolve the address. MyLocationLab stores nothing — no address, no coordinates, no logs.
Yes — use the Address Finder tool to enter any coordinates and get their street address, or paste an address into the Geocoder to get coordinates.
